Stimlight biolámpa – 4 fényszín + 850 nm infravörös | Kingray
Stimlight is a light-based device with interchangeable heads. Its four coloured-light heads are complemented by near-infrared light with a wavelength of 850 nm. This article focuses on the infrared head: what 850 nm means, how it differs from the red-light head, and what to know about use around joints.
Author: Ing. František Kokoš
Updated:
Stimlight uses interchangeable light heads with different wavelengths. Blue, green, yellow and red belong to the visible part of the light spectrum.
The infrared head operates at a wavelength of 850 nm, which falls within the near-infrared region, outside the normally visible part of the spectrum.
Key point: Stimlight is one complete light-based device with several interchangeable heads. The 850 nm infrared head is one component of the Stimlight system.
The product page provides information about the complete device, light heads, operating modes and technical specifications.
View Stimlight →What does 850 nm mean?
The value 850 nm describes the wavelength of light. A nanometre (nm) is a unit used to describe the wavelengths of electromagnetic radiation.
Visible light occupies only part of the spectrum. The wavelength of 850 nm lies beyond the visible red region and belongs to the near-infrared range.
How do the Stimlight heads differ?
The main technical difference between the heads is the wavelength of light they use.
🌈 Visible light
Four coloured-light heads operate within the visible part of the spectrum.
Blue: 465 nm
Green: 525 nm
Yellow: 592 nm
Red: 625 nm
🔴 Near-infrared light
The fifth head operates at a wavelength of 850 nm.
This wavelength lies outside the normally visible part of the spectrum.
Why does the infrared head appear barely lit?
The human eye cannot perceive 850 nm near-infrared light in the same way as blue, green, yellow or red light.
The head may therefore appear very dim or almost unlit. Low visibility alone does not necessarily mean that the device is faulty.
Does 850 nm have different optical properties?
Yes. Different wavelengths of light are reflected, scattered and absorbed differently when they interact with materials and biological tissues.
Near-infrared light is therefore also studied in scientific research for the way it propagates through biological tissues.
Measurements or scientific findings involving a particular wavelength cannot automatically be applied to every light-based device. The parameters of the specific device also matter, including its output, distance, operating mode and duration of use.
Our separate article explains wavelengths, dose, types of light-based devices and the basic principles of light technology. The article is in Slovak.
Read about biolamps (in Slovak) →Photobiomodulation is a field of research studying how biological systems respond to light with a defined wavelength, intensity and dose.
The results of a particular study relate to the device, parameters, application method and population studied. Findings obtained with a different device therefore cannot automatically be attributed to Stimlight.
How do you use Stimlight with the 850 nm infrared head?
Always follow the original instructions supplied with your device. You can also find an overview of all heads and modes in our separate guide to using Stimlight (in Slovak).
- 1Attach the 850 nm infrared head to the Stimlight handle.
- 2Keep the skin clean and dry.
- 3Point the head towards the selected area.
- 4Maintain the recommended distance of approximately 1.5 to 2 cm.
- 5Select 2 Hz, 20 Hz or continuous light.
- 6Set the duration according to the manufacturer's original instructions.
Follow the manufacturer's instructions, recommended distance and duration, and all safety warnings. Longer use or a shorter distance does not automatically mean a more appropriate application.
Stimlight 850 nm and use around joints
Where permitted by the instructions, the Stimlight infrared head can be used locally on a selected area of the body, such as around the knee, elbow, wrist or ankle.
The wavelength of 850 nm has different optical properties from visible light. This alone does not establish a specific health or therapeutic effect.
This article does not present Stimlight as a diagnostic or treatment device. Information about the 850 nm wavelength describes the technical and optical properties of light, rather than the outcome of treating a particular condition.
Joint supplements: what should you compare?
When choosing a food supplement, compare the specific ingredients, the amounts of individual substances, the product format and the recommended daily serving.
Products may differ in their content of collagen, glucosamine, chondroitin, MSM, hyaluronic acid or other ingredients.

Stimlight is a light-based device with interchangeable heads. The 850 nm infrared head adds another wavelength to the four coloured-light heads. During use, follow the technical specifications and instructions in the manufacturer's original manual.
Stimlight 850 nm – frequently asked questions
What is Stimlight?
Stimlight is a light-based device with interchangeable heads. It uses four coloured-light heads and an 850 nm infrared head.
What does 850 nm mean?
850 nm describes the wavelength of light. It lies within the near-infrared region of the spectrum.
Is 850 nm infrared light visible?
The human eye does not perceive near-infrared light at 850 nm in the same way as visible coloured light. The head may therefore appear very dim.
What is the difference between the red and infrared heads?
The main technical difference is the wavelength. The Stimlight red-light head uses 625 nm, while the infrared head uses 850 nm.
Which modes does Stimlight offer?
Stimlight offers 2 Hz, 20 Hz and continuous-light modes. Set the mode and other usage parameters according to the manufacturer's original instructions.
How far should the head be from the skin?
The device information gives an approximate distance of 1.5 to 2 cm from the skin. Always follow the manufacturer's current instructions.
Is Stimlight intended to diagnose or treat medical conditions?
This article presents Stimlight as a home LED device for local light-based relaxation and wellness routines. It does not present the device as a means of diagnosing or treating medical conditions.
